This letter explains what the Republican Party did. Disappointing behavior!
Republicans Manipulate Data
From Cannon Falls
The Red Wing Republican Eagle

Letter to the Editor – Red Wing Republican Eagle

It is amazing how someone can create skewed data as a result of doing what they deem as research. Research is not always only about the numbers. As a mathematics major that taught mathematics and computer science for 14 years, I can verify that reading only the numbers does not always result in the right answer.

I was disappointed with the flier that the Republican Party in St. Paul sent out regarding Sandy Wollschlager’s record while serving on the school board for the Cannon Falls School District. In fact the person that came in to do the research was very rude to both of my secretaries. When I arrived back to the office from a meeting, I asked this person why he was here. He told me he was doing research for a paper. As a result, I gave him a levy graph that accurately depicts the local taxes since I have been a Superintendent with the district. By the way, Sandy was a school board member for those five years. In fact, Sandy attended 80 out of 93 meetings since I arrived on July 1st, 2001.

I went through the numbers and pointed out to this person that the Cannon Falls School taxes have actually decreased by 38% over the past 5 years. That includes a referendum that the Cannon Falls School District voters passed in the fall of 2004. I had no idea he was going to manipulate the actual data by sending a flyer out on behalf of the Republican Party. It is disheartening that someone would have to lie to the Superintendent and two secretaries to dig up data and then skew the research in order to attempt to damage the reputation of this school district and a former board member.

During my stay as Superintendent for the Cannon Falls Area Schools, Sandy has done a great job as a school board member for this school district. In fact, all of the board members that represent the Cannon Falls Area Schools are outstanding. They take great pride listening to the public and making good financial decisions that benefit kids.

Sincerely,
Todd Sesker
Superintendent, Cannon Falls Area Schools
